HATT exhibition in Sweden!

Hej hej! Estou de malas aviadas, para uma curta estadia em Lund, na Suécia, onde inaugura este próximo Sábado na Galleri G uma minha exposição individual de ilustração que se intitula “HATT” (“Chapéu” em Sueco).
São cerca de uma centena de ilustrações feitas a partir de uma técnica de colagem digital como a imagem deste post. Vi Ses! Até à minha volta!

Hej hej! My bags are packed and I´m ready to go on a short trip to Lund, in Sweden, where my solo illustration exhibition called "HATT" (“Hat” in Swedish) opens next Saturday at Galleri G.
I´ll show about 100 illustrations done in a digital collage technique as the one shown on this post. Vi Ses! See you in a couple of days!

ARGH! #3

Acabo de receber pelo correio a revista ARGH! #3 onde participo com uma BD sobre o Capuchinho... AMARELO! No seu site podem ver todos os números que reúnem um conjunto de excelentes autores.
Entre eles estão o Félix Diaz e o Jorge Parras, dupla Valenciana responsável pela edição, direcção artística, produção e distribuição deste interessantíssimo projecto.
Os meus parabéns a ambos e preparem-se, porque nesta altura, já se está a pensar na próximo número...

I just received on my mailbox the ARGH! #3 Comic Magazine where I published a story on the little... YELLOW ridding Hood! On their website you´ll find all the issues published so far with a team of superb authors.
Amongst which are Félix Diaz and Jorge Parras, the duo from Valencia responsible for the edition, art direction, production and distribution of this very interesting project.

My congratulations to both and get ready because at this point, the next magazine issue is already being taken care of…

Illustration and clipping for last Saturday´s TABU magazine (SOL newspaper) about Portuguese former-military who are hired as mercenary soldiers to go to Iraq, Afghanistan, Asia or Africa…
As a curiosity: I´m also showing you the first illustration´s version, that was later modified according to the Art Director´s requests.

How does our mind work?

Este próximo sábado 21 de Julho na galeria WORK&SHOP a partir das 19h, inaugura a exposição colectiva "O Mistério da Cultura". Esta mostra e venda de séries limitadas de ilustrações digitais em que participo, mantém-se até dia 16 de Agosto. Uma curiosidade: a imagem que a galeria escolheu para o cartaz faz parte da série de 9 ilustrações originais que exponho... Espero ver-vos na inauguração ;)

Next Saturday July 21st at the WORK&SHOP gallery in Lisbon, opens the group exhibition "The Mystery of Culture". All limited series of digital illustrations can been seen and purchased until August 16th. Out of curiosity: the image chosen by the gallery comes from one of the 9 original illustrations I am presenting… Hope you can make it to the opening ;)

Here´s my submission for the "007 - James Bond´s" exhibition, organised by Humorgrafe and the National Comics and Image Centre, that starts next saturday 7th of July and stays open to the public until March 27th of 2008, in their gallery. Each illustrator was asked to make a parody of this classical literature and movie´s icon...

Além do "Jogo do túnel”, do “lenço” ou do “poste”, também há o da “lata”, que passo a descrever: o miúdo que levar com a lata é sovado com violência. Só param de lhe bater quando conseguir sair do perímetro...

My illustration on SOL Newspaper, available this Saturday, about "Dangerous Games in School". Amongst others, this one is called “the can game”: who ever gets hit by the can, is violentely beaten by the other kids until he can find his way out the perimeter…

BACK TO BASICS

Acabo de enviar a minha colaboração para o SHAPETIONARY da Canadiana Margaret Flood. Um interessante projecto que me fez pensar no desenho de uma forma diferente. As instruções eram para fazer desenhos só com linha, a caneta, das palavras que me enviou. Cada desenho deveria caber num espaço de 3x3 polegadas (7,62 x 7,62 cm). Teria que desenhar só o objecto, fora do seu contexto, isento de qualquer tipo de informação exterior.

As minhas palavras foram:
Nerve cord, Netsuke, Neural arch, Nest,
Neutron star, Neutron bomb, Necklace, Needle

Para os que possam estar interessados e à altura deste desafio, lembro-vos que o SHAPETIONARY continua à procura de participantes :)

I just sent my submission for Margaret Flood´s Canadian SHAPETIONARY. An appealing project that made me look at drawing in a different way. The instructions were to do a simple line drawing, in pen, of the words given. Each drawing should be smaller than 3x3 inches (7,62 x 7,62 cm). I had to draw only the object, out of context, without any extraneous information.

My words were:
Nerve cord, Netsuke, Neural arch, Nest,
Neutron star, Neutron bomb, Necklace, Needle

For those interested and up to the challenge, the SHAPETIONARY is still still seeking for participants :)
