Diário Gráfico/Sketchbook #1: 7/35
Apesar do excesso de trabalho que me tem afastado do blog, não quero deixar passar este dia em branco, já que hoje faço 35 anos :)
Para comemorar esta data e também porque decidi que iria desenhar muito mais durante este novo ano, inicio uma nova secção no blog, mostrando-vos uma vertente menos conhecida do meu trabalho: a dos diários gráficos.
Começo com uma selecção de 35 desenhos deste caderno DIN A5, que foi preenchido ao longo da primeira quinzena de Janeiro com apenas 4 canetas de feltro (como podem ver pela imagem). Registei tudo o que me apeteceu, usando a cor tanto para destacar diferentes elementos, como para marcar os vários tempos de um mesmo desenho. Durante toda esta semana, colocarei 7 novas imagens diariamente, pela mesma ordem com que aparecem no bloco. Espero que gostem.

Despite my absence from the blog due to the amount of work lately, I don´t want to leave today´s date unnoticed, since it´s my 35th birthday :)
To celebrate it and also because I decided to draw much more during this new year, today begins a new blog´s section, showing you a so far unknown part of my work: the sketchbooks.
I´ll start with a selection of 35 drawings of this DIN A5 notebook, that was finished in the first half of January with only 4 colour markers (as you can see in the image). I sketched everything I felt like, using colour either to stand out different elements, or to identify the various moments of a same drawing. During all this week, I will place 7 new images daily, in the exact same order as they appear in the sketchbook. I hope you will like it.

RATS!
Ilustração feita ainda em 2007 para o caderno NATURA do jornal espanhol EL MUNDO, sobre uma praga de ratos do campo que andam a dizimar as colheitas em Castilla y León, desde Outubro de 2006. Para este trabalho, cujo artigo pode ser visto na íntegra aqui, tive o Ulises Culebro como Director de Arte e na imagem podem ver o esboço prévio, a ilustração final e o resultado impresso.

This is an illustration done still in 2007, for the EL MUNDO Spanish newspaper´s NATURA section, on a plague of rats that have been spotted, since October 2006, decimating the harvests in the Castilla y León region. The full article (in Spanish) can be seen here. My Art Director was Ulises Culebro and the elements above are the sketch, the final illustration and the result printed on paper.

2008!
2007 foi um ano de trabalho bastante agitado: mais uma inquilina cá em casa, viagens, seis exposições, dois workshops, inúmeras colaborações tanto em BD como em ilustração, e sobretudo, o lançamento de vários projectos dos quais quero dar-vos conta aqui no Blog, nos próximos meses.
Para 2008, como o próprio indica (2+0+0+8 = 10 = 1+0 = 1), um único desejo: que tudo seja mais simples e fácil de concretizar. Tal como este desenho!

2007 has been a very busy working year: an extra lodger in the house, trips, six exhibitions, two workshops, several collaborations both in Comics as in illustration, and above all, the launching of new projects of which I intend to tell you about in this Blog in the following months.
For 2008, as the figure suggests (2+0+0+8 = 10 = 1+0 = 1), a single wish: that everything will be simple and easy to achieve. Such as this drawing!

After Madrid, now it´s Lisbon´s turn! A new series of original and unpublished drawings of my project about the "art of regularly dividing and cutting construction materials" will be displayed at the Work&Shop Gallery opening next Saturday 17th of November around 6pm. Here´s the vernissage invitation and I hope to see you all soon at the exhibition :)

HATT in Galleri G
Para quem não pôde viajar até às "terras frias do norte" para ver a minha exposição HATT que termina hoje na Galleri G, fica a minha reportagem sobre o dia da inauguração através de 3 conjuntos de imagens: uma selecção das ilustrações expostas, um portefólio fotográfico e o dossier de imprensa.

For those that couldn´t travel to the "cold North" to see my HATT exhibition that finishes today in Galleri G, here´s my report of the opening day with 3 sets of images: a selection of the illustrations displayed, a photographic portofólio and the press coverage.

HATT exhibition in Sweden!
Hej hej! Estou de malas aviadas, para uma curta estadia em Lund, na Suécia, onde inaugura este próximo Sábado na Galleri G uma minha exposição individual de ilustração que se intitula “HATT” (“Chapéu” em Sueco).
