Notícias de Varsóvia: Pela minha experiência, a reacção das pessoas ao ver alguém a desenhar costuma ser sempre um misto de empatia e curiosidade. Todos os "urban sketchers" sabem disso. Mas contrariamente a isto, em Varsóvia senti uma certa desconfiança nos olhares das pessoas com quem me cruzava. Talvez haja uma razão histórica para este comportamento, visto que os polacos têm um passado turbulento repleto de conflitos bélicos e resistência durante os quais lutaram para reaver a sua soberania. E foi nisto que pensei enquanto desenhava no cruzamento da rua Nowy Swiat com a Aleja Jerozolimskie, onde também escrevi: "Desenho debaixo do sol e rodeado pelos barulhos citadinos deste cruzamento das duas principais artérias urbanas de Varsóvia. O senhor que aqui vêem, olhou fixamente para mim, intrigado com o que eu estaria a desenhar. Mas não ousou perguntar..."

News from Warsaw: In my own experience, people's reaction when seeing somebody drawing are usually always a mixture of empathy and curiosity. All "urban sketchers" know it. But contrary to this, in Warsaw I felt a certain mistrust in the eyes of the people with whom I crossed. Perhaps there is a historical reason for this behaviour, since the Poles have had a turbulent past filled with wars and endurance during which they struggled to regain their sovereignty. And this was in my thoughts while drawing at the intersection of street Nowy Swiat with Aleja Jerozolimskie, where I also wrote: "Drawing under the sun and surrounded by city noises at the intersection of the two main roads of Warsaw. The man you see here stared at me, intrigued by what I was drawing. But did not dare to ask ... "
